You step into Mareda through a wide sliding door that frames an idyllic vista of the rural East Sussex landscape. As you move into the space, your eyes are drawn up to the double-height mezzanine, which seculdes a king-sized bed that affords expansive views of the sky through a skylight directly positioned above. Blackout blinds ensure a perfect night’s sleep.
Below, the living area has a plush sofa and two supportive rocking chairs. A dining area seats four comfortably, a few steps away from the well-equipped kitchen space.
The ground-floor bedroom has direct access to the private deck, while the luxury shower room has a heated floor and towel rail, a spacious shower, and walls clad in deep metallic tones.
Mareda is highly insulated and powered by nearby solar panels, which produce more power each year than the retreat consumes. So, your stay is better than carbon-neutral: it helps to reduce carbon. A fast EV charger is available in the dedicated parking area, with simple payment and control via the Monta app.
Outside is an alfresco dining space for four, with a firepit that doubles as a barbecue. It’s a perfect space to soak in the expansive sunsets. If you prefer to dine out, the village pub is within a five-minute stroll.

The mezzanine bedroom is a unique space, with a king-sized bed, accessed via a beautifully designed staircase. A skylight runs across the entire width of the king-sized bed, offering views of the stars on clear nights. When it’s time to sleep, the skylight blind can be closed at the touch of a button. While the mezzanine bedroom feels very private, it is open to the living area and may not suit all guests. Children should be supervised at all times when on the mezzanine. We welcome children of all ages but do not accommodate pets. The lower bedroom has a king-sized bed but can be configured as two singles by request.

Russet is a getaway perfect for couples or a sanctuary for solo travellers. Whether you’re sinking into its velvety sofa, dining alfresco in the flickering warmth of the firepit, or returning from a becalming country stroll, Russet is your ideal contemporary haven.
From the king-sized bedroom, you can step onto your private deck. Then whip up a tasty breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen nearby or simply drink in the view with your morning coffee.
As with its sister retreat, Mareda, Russet is designed to keep you cozy or cool without harming the planet. Your stay is better than carbon neutral, as the dedicated solar panels produce more power each year than Russet consumes. Even the double-width shower is specified for low-impact luxury. Its jets provide a soothing mist while using water wisely. A fast EV charger is available in the dedicated parking area, with easy payment via the Monta app. Two charging points ensure both retreats can charge EVs simultaneously.

For larger groups, you can book Mareda and Russet simultaneously, sleeping up to 6 in comfort. The front garden areas are linked by opening a gate. This allows easy interaction between both spaces while providing a measure of separation, too.
